SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The primary purpose and function of the Build and Release Engineer is to package for release, proprietary software and all related third-party components within a complex software environment. The Sr. Build and Release Engineer will work closely with other Sr. Build and Release Engineers to research, customize, and automate the effective delivery of multiple versions of software to a targeted user base. This position is responsible for documentation, implementation, operational delivery, coordination of software builds, and automation of setup processes using Microsoft-centric technologies.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
•Collaborate with architects and technical leads to assist in the definition and maintenance of set-ups, builds, automation, and best practices to ensure a repeatable and traceable process for software releases.
•Collaborate with System Architects and Technical Leads to implement security procedures to protect intellectual property according to standard industry practices.
•Implement and deliver complex software products according to specifications for multiple releases and versioning.
•Support Build Engineers in the development and deliverance of setup software to operational environments.
•Solve issues involving iterative development of simultaneous projects with fixed-date release schedules.
•Maintain build environment, scripting and automating the build process, maintenance of software revision history; ensure the delivery of software release notes from the developers, and validate delivery requirements against checklist.
•Propose and make implement improvement suggestions to the Technical Lead or Development Manager.
•Assist and validate development; test the build and installer packaging using InstallShield, Windows Installer, batch files, and MSI chaining.
•Work with the Sr. Engineer, R&D, and Client Service Associates, customers and the Development Manager to resolve setup problems and deliver a product ready package.
•Monitor the execution of automated unit tests; ensure builds run successfully every day.
•Identify and correct any problems and report any issues to the appropriate team.
•Document the build system and process.
•Administer the tools used in the Build and Release process.
•Ensure all release processes, policies and procedures are properly communicated and documented.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
•Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

•Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
•The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
•Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in a software related field with a focus in working and developing build automation scripts.
•Demonstrated proficiency with InstallShield, Windows Installer and MSI Scripting required.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Team Foundation Server is preferred.
•Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training is preferred.
