The Hamilton Company, a leading manufacturer of life science laboratory automation equipment, is now seeking experienced Product Managers for their liquid handling product portfolio.  Join our talented team of scientists, engineers, software developers, business and marketing processionals and help manage one of the most popular, fastest selling pipetting workstations on the planet.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Manager serves as "product champion" for the assigned liquid handling instrument platform(s), marketing to select biopharma market segments.  Manager and coordinate key projects and processes to create and deliver superior customer satisfaction, yielding profit and strategic performance consistent with company objectives.  Integrate the various segments of business into a strategically focused whole, maximizing product value through offerings that fulfill market needs.  Plan and execute marketing and sales plans and promotions, and participate in activities surrounding new product development, existing product enhancement and project planning.  Train and assist sales and support personnel in implementing marketing and sales plans.  Work with OEM customers and international dealers to achieve sales and marketing goals.  Establish close working relationship with strategic corporate partners to develop validated solutions and promote to key segments.  Requires sound product/industry/technical knowledge, fundamental business acumen and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop objectives, marketing strategies, and plans for instrument products and implement them successfully.  The plans will include, but are not limited to, communications plans, budgets, selling and distribution plans and appropriate financial analysis.  The person will analyze plans for progress, issue reports, and recommend adjustments to meet marketing and sales goals.
  • Development objectives, marketing strategies, and plans for new products based on market research and perform analysis of customer needs and direction.
  • Supervise and direct application and instrument product specialists to achieve desired organizational results.
  • Act as "product champion" for the development of new products and take primary role from functional requirements to product completion.  Take primary responsibility for applications and external testing and data coordination.
  • Insure timely introduction of new products to include sales training and promotions as required.
  • Monitor sales and profit performance of products within specified market and recommend prices consistent with company costs and profit strategies and maintain acceptable profit margins.
  • Set specifications and pricing on OEM or dual labeled products.  Coordinate the training of OEM or dual label personnel as required and coordinate technical and service assistance.  This will be done on a worldwide basis for products manufactured in the U.S.
  • Coordinate the training of International dealers and distributors as needed and assist them with technical assistance.
  • Accumulate market research information and gather, compile, and analyze competitor information on an on-going basis, use this information to develop strategic marketing and sales plans.  Keep sales force informed of competitive development and create counter strategies.
  • Participate in the preparation of company strategic plans
  • Prepare one-year and quarterly rolling detailed forecasts for assigned products and forward them to manufacturing and data processing.  Based on these forecasts, manufacturing will insure adequate sales inventory and control inventory costs.

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Plan and execute trade show presentations, seminars, poster sessions, and workshops as a part of an overall marketing communications plan.
  • A good working knowledge of computers is required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Must have good planning, budget, and customer skills, and be able to demonstrate them to an audience.
  • Experience with capital scientific equipment is highly desired.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be able to travel internationally and have a valid driver's license in their state of residence

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  Bachelor's degree in science is required
  • Should have at least 3 years of sales, marketing, or related product management experience, either in a technical capacity such as research and development or applications.
  • 2 years of sales experience is strongly recommended.
  • An MBA is not required, but would be a plus as long as the experience criteria above are met
