DESIGN / QUALITY ENGINEER


 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Functional Fenestration, Inc. (FFI) is seeking a Design/Quality Engineer to join our company based in Los Angeles. The Design/Quality Engineer will be responsible for taking the lead on new product designs, product revisions, quality control and technical document control. This position will work closely with the FFI Management team to ensure company product development plans are met, and will have input and participation in strategic planning.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DUTIES:

  • Oversee Product Development and FEMA analysis for FFI products

  • Develop new designs for products targeted on the FFI product development plan

  • Manage product revisions for existing products

  • Expectation of travel time is up to 40%; to visit vendors, trade shows, and client sites, including overseas travel

  • Establish and maintain long-term, ongoing industry relationships

  • Learn ongoing about FFI products, competitor products, and the window, door and skylight industry

  • Evaluate FFI product applicability to clients’ manufacturing needs


ORGANIZATIONAL QUALITY DUTIES:

  • Produce monthly status reports and annual plan for Manager’s approval

  • Develop and implement improved Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes for FFI products

  • Develop and implement improved Document Control program for FFI technical documents

  • Effectively resolve issues as they arise; report corrective actions needed to FFI team

  • Contribute to a positive work environment; display commitment to FFI organizational goals and financial health

  

 

Requirements
SKILLS & JOB EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Product development, product design, and project management experience

  • Bachelors degree required; preferably Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design

  • Knowledge/design of hardware, gasketing, mechanisms and fasteners

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as: machining, forging, stamping, die-casting, extruding, injection molding, painting, plating, assembly, inspection, quality control

  • Experience with manufacturing of doors, windows and/or skylights

  • Ability to work cooperatively on a team

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently

  • Expert computer skills, including MS Office and 3D and 4D CAD and/or SOLIDWORKS software

  • Excellent communication skills – in person, on phone and written

  • Language skills in Korean and English to communicate with FFI vendors:  this is a mandatory requirement for the position

  • Conduct business in a persistent, assertive and polite manner, to the highest possible standards
