Mechanical Design Engineer

 

A leading fabricator of Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers and related equipment for the chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, power and other process industries is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.  The Mechanical Design Engineer will be primarily responsible for providing thermal and mechanical design calculations for custom designed shell & tube heat exchangers, ASME Pressure Vessels and related process equipment. 


Requirements
Required Skills:

  • A strong working knowledge of Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, ASME Pressure Vessels and related equipment.
  • The ability to read and understand specifications, drawings and contract documents.
  • The ability to perform mechanical calculations in accordance with the ASME Sect VIII, Division I and other engineering codes and standards.
  • Ability to identify unique requirements that warrant special consideration.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Proficient with mechanical engineering software such as Compress or PV Elite.
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills

  • The ability to demonstrate ownership, responsibility and accountability for assigned tasks
  • Must be a self-motivated, a team player, thorough and organized

Education and Experience:
 
  • At least a four year degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • Five or more years of experience performing mechanical design of Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, ASME Pressure Vessels and related equipment 
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy materials 
  • AutoCAD experience preferred 
  • FEA experience is a plus 
  • Thermal design experience with heat exchangers is a definite plus
