Description Manager, Commercial Finance

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Commercial Finance Manager role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with strong quantitative and analytical skills to contribute to an industry-leading renewable energy company.  The selected candidate will help the Commercial Finance team value energy services and set appropriate pricing.

The Commercial Finance Manager will be the primary point of contact with Sales for reviewing and approving pricing.  This role requires frequent interaction with Sales, Engineering, Procurement & Construction, Project Finance, and other departments throughout the organization.  This is a central role with high visibility and tremendous impact upon the company.  Significant opportunity for advancement is available for the right candidate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Review and approve proposed pricing from Sales, building financial models as needed.  Ensure that finance requirements have been addressed.
  • Manage relationships with financiers to value projects and structure optimal deal terms.
  • Comprehend financial structures used by financiers and perform shadow-pricing to verify accuracy of final project pricing.
  • Support Sales’ response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Develop financing mechanisms and build models to identify and capture new business opportunities.
  • Work with Business Development and Utility segments to build financial models and calculate value of existing or proposed regulatory mechanisms required to sustain large-scale programs.
  • Establish processes and controls to coordinate information flow between internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal customers to ensure that pricing accuracy and details meet user requirements.
  • Mentor Sales analysts to improve abilities and assume greater responsibilities.
  • Support Project Finance and Corporate Finance teams on other projects as needed.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Superior quantitative abilities and facility with financial figures and data
  • Analytical mindset with excellent computer skills emphasizing simple build and design techniques using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (knowledge of Access is helpful)
  • BS in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other quantitative discipline; MBA is a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and research skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn on the fly in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing demands
  • 5+ years of work experience in the energy and/or finance industry 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common.  Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. No heavy lifting is expected.  Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.  Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.  Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems. 


WORK ENVIRONEMENT

The job is performed both indoors in a traditional office setting and outdoors traveling to and from customers and landlord locations throughout North America.
