Reports To: Director of Advancement
Summary of Position:
The Admissions Officer is responsible for administration of the Admissions Office including complete enrollment management as well as representing and marketing the school to prospective families and community contacts for recruitment. The Admissions Officer conducts his/her responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of Wilmington Montessori School.
Programmatic Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of the recruiting, admissions and retention process. As the school’s chief enrollment officer, the Officer develops and executes an on-going recruitment and retention plan. The Officer holds responsibility for positive communications between the school and applicants, scheduling interviews, evaluating applications for admissions, assisting with financial aid decisions and ensuring all necessary communications relating to the admissions process. The Officer represents the school at various public and related professional activities. The Officer is responsible for enhancing the image of the school with key constituencies through market research and outreach.
- Presents the school to prospective students and parents, including systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and families during the process, touring and interviews with candidates and families; arrangements for admissions testing; securing of necessary student credentials and communicating final decisions to all parties.
- Works closely with Communications Officer on recruitment/retention marketing strategies.
- Oversees the admissions process for new students into the school.
- Creates and implements recruitment and retention strategies for students.
- Participates on the Financial Aid committee.
- Projects re-enrollment statistics and maintains relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions, enrollment and marketing programs.
- Designs and implements ex-missions strategies to assist our graduates in their next educational step.
- Oversees all aspects of the admissions office, assists in budget planning and maintaining appropriate admissions and marketing materials.
· Supports parent volunteers toward meeting admissions goals set by the Board; serves on committees as needed/requested.
· Works closely with all staff and board members to promote their role in enrollment and a positive school image.
- Positively represents the school at public events and conferences. Markets school at appropriate community and corporate functions as well as on-site.
- Supports the mission and vision of the school and articulates Montessori principles and education to applicants and the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Qualifications:
Experience in admissions and marketing in an independent school environment is strongly desired. Requires proficient knowledge of and facility with the Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to relationship-build and handle multiple concurrent projects are required. The ideal candidate must have a commitment to the mission and vision of the school, an exemplary work ethic, high energy and consistent follow through. Candidate should enjoy working with people and understand the confidential nature of Admissions. Previous experience working with volunteers a plus. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.

As part of the Advancement team, candidate should be well versed in enrollment management and planning, recruitment/retention strategies, admission tracking and reporting, event planning/execution and possess the ability to support and articulate the unique qualities of a Montessori education. Experience in admissions and marketing in an independent school environment is strongly desired. Must be experienced with Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
