Chugach Industries, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chugach Alaska Corporation, has a long-term facilities management contract at the Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, NJ. We currently have over 220 full time employees and we are responsible for managing Public Works, Logistics, IT, Safety and Health and Environmental Services.
We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator as an addition to our growing staff of skilled crafts people. We offer a competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, Life, and 401(k) with company match.
Summary/General Description of Job:
Provides preliminary and detailed cost estimates concerning the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of facilities to include all associated systems using R.S. Means and MS Project. Independently plans and estimates all necessary labor, materials, specialized subcontract support and equipment. Projects typically require coordination with customers, creativity, and sound judgment. Consults shop personnel for advice and estimating assistance. Completed estimates are reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives. Manages the execution of all type of work orders.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
· Provides preliminary and detailed cost estimates using R.S. Means and MS Project.
· Manages assigned project(s) in order to achieve timely and profitable completion
· Manages & schedules Subcontractors and Trades personnel on multiple projects.
· Defines quantity, cost, vendor, and availability to compile a complete bill of materials.
· Determines alternative source(s) for specialized tasks. If required, researches, composes solicitation, reviews bids, and recommends final determination.
· Performs assigned work tasks with no more than normal supervision.
· Assists other trade groups in day-to-day operations, where required.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Mandatory:
· US Citizenship
· High School Diploma
· Valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving record
· 3+ years experience in trades construction or maintenance estimating
· Proficiency in MS Office, Electronic Estimating Software (i.e., R.S. Means, Cost Works, etc.), and MS Project.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manufacturers’ installation and operation manuals
· Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal codes, rules, and regulations in regards to construction, OSHA, and environmental issues.
· Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels
