DIRECTOR of MEDICAL ECONOMICS

 

 

Arcadian Management Services has a phenomenal opportunity for a Director Level Candidate with solid experience and understanding of Medical Economics.

 

 

Summary:

Arcadian Health Plan is a fast growing $400+ million revenue healthcare company that is building a medical economics team to help guide provider partnership initiatives and identify opportunities to improve cost of care.  The Director of Medical Economics will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of a system wide medical economics function that will assist our executive team, market directors and partner physician groups in making informed choices in the delivery of cost-effective healthcare for our members.  This position will spearhead the creation of new processes, reporting and analytics to provide company leaders and provider partners with the necessary insights into key cost drivers, utilization benchmarks, and specialty cost trends to enable successful, cost effective healthcare delivery. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of analysts in successfully executing area, corporate, and development initiatives

  • Manages and supervises the Medical Economics staff to facilitate standard reporting and ad hoc analysis

  • Manages workflow and scheduling of staff to ensure analysis is complete and accurate

  • Develops, coaches, and motivates success by modeling behavior consistent with corporate values

  • Assesses and manages performance of staff 

  • Creates positive environment for staff

  • Works to identify key medical cost trends and designs sound data-based tools and applications necessary to efficiently measure, monitor, and/or forecast the company’s medical cost structure

  • Develops and manages new reporting tools based on needs of Regional representatives in Provider Relations, Contracting, and Medical Management

  • Works closely with Finance department as a key partner is designing, preparing and producing reports related to medical spend at the plan level and driving an overall management process to analyze the components of medical cost trend.

  • Drives cross-functional efforts with IT and Finance to develop the necessary technical infrastructure to support critical benchmarking and reporting initiatives



Education and experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university in a field relevant to medical economics, epidemiology or medical analytics
  • Graduate degree and/or significant industry experience 7-10 years relevant healthcare experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in managing medical economics teams and projects

  • Strong independent decision-making skills.  Converts strategic direction into specific action plans.

  • Skilled at influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

  • Significant experience in a work environment requiring substantial interaction with multiple levels of an organization (CEO, CFO, direct operations, middle management, and senior management)

  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships

  • Strong health insurance/managed care and care delivery system industry knowledge/experience including experience with the practical uses and applications of healthcare data

  • Experience with process and data modeling, data architectural development methodology, and data warehousing technology

  • Experience running large data centric projects

  • Demonstrated ability to build structures and systems related to medical economics in the broadest sense.

  • Fluent in Excel with understanding of MSAccess

  • Understanding of SQL Server preferred
