GENERAL SUMMARY:  The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible to the Department Director for the performance of occupational therapy services.  All services are rendered under physician within the guidelines of the Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Hospital policy under direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist.  Assists Occupational Therapist in evaluation process and implements occupational therapy care plan and programs to improve, restore, and enhance performance in activities of daily living and functional mobility.  Performs documentation and quality improvement as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

Demonstrates fidelity to Saint Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center’s mission; displays a high regard for human life and respects the dignity, uniqueness, worth, and rights of each individual.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant is required to be qualified to provide care for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
