We are currently seeking to fill the position of:

 

Tourism Sales Manager

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

 

The Tourism Sales Manager is responsible for promoting the Chickasaw Nation as a tourism destination and representing all entities owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation. The Tourism Sales Manager/ Manager generates business from the group market - including tour operators, travel agents, AAA offices, and any other markets that may be related. Promotes individual travel by developing travel packages with hotels, attractions, events and festivals to sell to the leisure travel market and promotes the Chickasaw Nation as a premier destination.


Essential Job Functions

  • Attend appropriate domestic travel trade, sporting events trade shows on behalf of Chickasaw Nation to meet with major producers/sellers of leisure travel business and to continually promote the Chickasaw Nation and the associated businesses of the Division of Commerce as a destination for individual, group and sports travel. 
  • Handle all special requests and necessary follow-up to these shows including distributing leads to the appropriate areas such as tour groups, conventions, meetings.
  • Develop and compile sales leads and marketing opportunities as a result of trade show attendance and other sales activities for distribution to Chickasaw Nation. 
  • Follow up with clients to evaluate conversion of leads and effectiveness of shows and/or sales calls.
  • Qualify and organize familiarization tours from assigned markets both domestic and sports including tour operators and individual meeting planners who would like to preview facilities. 
  • Assist Chickasaw Nation facilities as requested including co-op advertising.
  • Assist Director of Tourism in executing cooperative marketing projects.
  • Maintain database of major domestic motor coach, FIT tour organizations and markets. Trace files for direct contact and/or mailings.
  • Make individual, periodic sales calls as needed in designated markets on behalf of The Chickasaw Nation to visit major clients, to familiarize these buyers with promotional opportunities and the latest developments and hospitality services in the Chickasaw Nation.
  • Assist in developing the tourism marketing plan and budget. 
  • Develop and execute short and long-term sales and marketing strategies for designated markets after conducting research and evaluating market potential.
  • Produce as-needed reports of sales activities including long-range planning calendar as well as trip reports.
  • Periodically host individual tourism marketing presentations.
  • Service special requests as needed.
  • Participate in local and national hospitality industry functions and organizations as appropriate.
  • Organize annual mailings to tour operators, travel agents, event planners and visitor information providers in selected markets.
  • Identify and assist secondary feeder markets for potential growth and market changes.
  • Assist with miscellaneous Tourism Sales projects as assigned by the Director of Tourism.
  • Meet yearly quantitative booking goals outlined by the Director of Tourism at the beginning of each fiscal year.


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least two to five years of tourism sales experience is required.
  • Accounting experience in dealing with departmental budgets.
  • Must have previous experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Advanced abilities in Word, Excel, Visio, and Power Point.
  • Must be honest, team oriented, and have initiative to work without supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, staff, co-workers and the general public.
  • Team oriented and enjoys working with and assisting people.
