Description
Position Summary:
The MST therapist provides resources to solve the complex problems that threaten the integrity of the family, and put the youth at risk for out-of-home placements. Provides a broad array of services designed to limit the need for multiple service providers and frees the family from needless duplication or fragmentation of services. The MST therapist requires innovative and creative problem solving and the ability to use time and other resources efficiently. Provides on-going assessment, crisis intervention, individual, family, group therapy as well as case management. Develops and monitors service plans, monitors treatment progress, documents interactions and maintains clinical records. Coordinates with internal as well as external supportive services to deliver needed services to client/consumer. Collaborates with peers and psychiatrist regarding treatment.
Essential Duties:
· Provides services in the family’s natural environment – home, school, and/or neighborhood settings.
· Provide and facilitate a wide variety of individual and family and group therapeutic and rehabilitative activities to achieve goals of services/ treatment plan; prevent deterioration, and or hospitalization.
· To maintain time-limited duration of treatment, 3 – 5 months per family depending on the seriousness of the problems and success of interventions.
· Conduct crisis intervention via telephone, face-to-face. Intervene and
de-escalate crisis situations with clients. Assess risk of harm to self or
others and arrange needed resources.
· Position requires availability of at least one MST therapist from the MST team to availability on a 24-hour-per-day and 7 days a week as needed on call.
· Will schedule appointments at the family’s convenience, such as evening hours and weekends.
· Maintains daily contact, face to face, or by telephone, with client families.
· Advocate for consumers in many different forums including at the federal, state and local court systems, with family, school systems, and others as needed.
· Participate in all training and supervision requirements required by MST Inc. to facilitate high fidelity replication of the model.
· Maintain close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out treatment/service plans.
· Follow agency productivity standards as outlined by NRBH.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Bilingual Required
Ø Ability to provide treatment and case management in routine and crisis situations.
Ø Able to visually assess responses to mental illness or reaction to medications such as hand tremors, tongue rolling, color of skin, eyes following hallucinations, size of pupils for substance abuse, etc.
Ø Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related professional periodicals, journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
Ø Strong/effective verbal and written communications skills
Ø Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ø Time management and prioritizing of work load
Education & Licensure
· Masters in Human Services field or BA with equivalent experience
· Licensure desired.
· Valid Driver’s License with clean record.
