Group Renewal Specialist
- Provide client services for designated clients. Independently prepare renewals, send renewals to brokers, prepare alternatives, submit complete renewals to carriers. Prepare submissions for marketing of renewals, request data from insurance companies, review proposals and complete benefit and rate comparison, and communicate strategies with brokers.
- Stay abreast of markets, products, and carrier competitiveness to provide a comprehensive product portfolio to the broker.
- Act as a liaison between the broker and insurance companies in order to resolve all normal service issues regarding billing, claims, eligibility, and other customer service issues.
JOB SUMMARY: Primary service contact for assigned book of business. Develops a strong working relationship with brokers and demonstrates “ownership" of accounts by responding to brokers requests for service assistance on the same working day that the request is made for urgent issues or within 24 hours for routine service issues. Acts as a liaison between broker and carrier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Responsible for routine service which includes the preparation of: monthly renewals, reporting of renewal status, processing of renewals, development and execution of service schedule, standard annual report.
2. Meet with brokers as needed.
3. Coordinate brokers renewals by the following:
· Ensure complete execution of renewal checklist.
· Prepare renewal report for broker review.
· Preparation of employee communication materials as needed.
· Schedule and conduct employee meetings when necessary.
4. Conduct all marketing efforts as assigned by unit, which includes:
· Ensure complete execution of marketing checklist.
· Development of Request for Proposal (RFP).
· Coordinate vendor responses and follow-up.
· Analysis and comparison of proposals.
5. Coordinate new carrier and plan implementation and transition.
· Ensure complete execution of implementation checklist.
· Preparation of implementations schedule.
· Coordinate preparation and delivery of employee communication materials utilizing carrier and client information.
· Schedule and participate in enrollment meetings.
6. Review of all agreements and/or documents (change forms, carrier contracts, etc.).
7. Practice proactive follow-up on all outstanding issues by communicating status of each to the AE/Unit Manager.
9. Prepare monthly service reports by the 10th of the month, including appropriate distribution.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide limited assistance to brokers on compliance issues.
2. Provide on-the-job training/education of renewal assistants.
3. Oversee maintenance of permanent master files, agency management system and accounting records.
4. Attendance of internal meetings/education programs.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field, or equivalent experience in the insurance industry.
2. At least three years experience in the insurance industry, specifically in employee welfare benefits.
3. Strong customer service skills, with the ability to develop sound relationships with multiple brokers.
4. Ability to interact with carriers effectively.
5. Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet expertise.
6. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
7. A firm working knowledge of employee benefits with a basic understanding of insurance concepts.
8. Basic working knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry.
