Description

This position requires an in-depth knowledge of optical engineering principles, theories, and concepts.  Senior Optical Engineer will be responsible for the creation and development of moderately complex optical systems and subsystems for military and aerospace environments.  Individual will be capable of leading segments of the overall optical design and serve as the primary interface on programs with optical content.  Individual will be responsible for performing analyses and trade studies on optical systems and documenting results and recommendations.  Senior Optical Engineer will also be responsible for testing of complex optical systems to resolve design and manufacturing related problems.  This individual will work closely with the multidisciplinary design team to ensure affordable and producible optical solutions meeting end item performance, schedule and cost requirements.

 

 

Requirements Must have the following:

1.       BS Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field.

2.       Five (5) years of relevant experience in hands-on engineering and/or manufacturing.

3.       Proven track record in the design, development and test of optical systems for military/aerospace applications.

4.       Familiarity with lasers (semiconductor, solid state and/or fiber).

5.       Familiarity with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, systems and their interaction with optical systems.

6.       Proven track record in working with the optical suppliers to ensure requirements are met on time and within cost.

7.       Good skills in oral & written communication and ability to present technical subjects clearly in team meetings and reviews


Prefer to have the following:

1.       MS Optical Engineering, Physics or Electro-Optics.

2.       Seven  (7) years of relevant experience in hands-on engineering and/or manufacturing.

3.       Experience with CODE V and/or ZEMAX.

4.       Matlab experience
