Description JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Direct responsibility for managing product marketing of ABB Low Voltage Control Gear product line including competitive analysis and displacement strategy, long-term product line planning, definition, pricing, strategy, forecasting (monthly and long range), promotion and product life cycle/ transition management and new product launches. Maintains full awareness of Product Line P&L ($30M+) in all areas including manufacturing, quality, sales, product costs, margins, expenses and the overall assets employed by the business. Supports Director of Product Management in development of global business unit marketing strategy, annual budget and long-range operating plan. Supports Channel Development and Target Account programs. Position may have direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for overall marketing direction to the business unit for product line development consistent with market needs and strategic plans.

Applies in-depth market, customer, industry, application and technical knowledge to prepare marketing development requests and project approval requests for product development projects (new, line extensions, enhancements and cost reductions).

Responsible for defining specifications (for specific feeder factories and New Berlin) with price, cost, volume and reliability objectives for product development projects.

Responsible for identifying and conducting on-going competitive analysis and regularly communicating relevant information throughout the organization.

Leads and supports Marketing Communications organization in the development and implementation of key programs in support of product line objectives (e.g. trade shows, promotion programs, pre-sales & post-sales collateral, target account programs, etc.)

Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies as outlined by ABB. Trains and motivates subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

Responsible for assisting the Director of Product Management as assigned in duties required to meet global business unit and department objectives.

Assist the Director of Product Management to develop, implement and achieve the global business unit marketing strategy and Annual Budget.

Develop and foster relationships with key decision-makers of targeted strategic accounts to achieve market growth.
Leads the development and management of processes for identifying customer needs, measuring customer satisfaction and meeting customer requirements for assigned products.
Requirements

Requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 8 -12 years product marketing, commercial marketing and/or sales experience in the Industrial Controls or Automation industry. Demonstrated team leadership with a blend of direct reports and matrix environment to achieve objectives. Business profit & loss management responsibility and product line forecasting and strategic planning experience required.
