Job Description

The registered nurse utilizes knowledge and skills of basic nursing process to care for and provide safe, quality nursing care to patients. Completes admission assessment within unit designated appropriate time frame. Performs ongoing assessment and documentation to provide accurate and current information on the patient condition. Identifies and prioritizes need for immediate patient intervention. Contributes to and follows plan of care. Performs all skills identified on basic housewide RN, unit specific and high risk/low frequency skills list. Manages patient caseload by setting priorities, organizing activities and utilizing available resources. Participates in quality management activities. Accountable for own on-going professional growth and development. Communicates patient needs and progress to other health care providers as needed to ensure coordination of care. Utilizes Service Plus Key Principles (Maintains or Enhances Self-Esteem, listens and responds with empathy and asks for ideas and/or offers suggestions) and Service Plus Steps (Acknowledges the person, clarifies the situation, meets or exceeds the need and confirms satisfaction) to enhance patient/customer satisfaction. Employee actively participates in making recommendations for improving working relationships in the department/unit. Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement. Practices all components of the safety program. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.


Job Requirements

 

Bachelor’s degree required. Two years previous experience as RN in assigned area including telemetry, ICU and MedSurg. Registered nurse with current Texas license. Must be willing to commit to minimum hour and holiday requirement for position, if applicable. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must be willing to rotate to various units within assigned area. Ability to build and sustain interpersonal relationships.
