About the Program:

Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (MAT) is an exciting collaborative effort between the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and other community mental health providers. This program is designed to ensure the immediate and comprehensive assessment of children and youth entering an out-of-home placement. The "multidisciplinary" aspect of these assessments is to ensure that all (mental health, medical, academic, etc..) child/family needs are assessed when a child/youth enters a foster care situation. The information gathered in these assessments will assist the courts in determining what services are most needed by the child(ren) while in placement and for aftercare/reunification planning as well as the appropriateness of the placement.

 

About the Position: 

PART-TIME Therapist  is responsible in  providing direct and indirect services to clients and is available as a consultant to the community as needed.

 

  • Provides clinical and developmental assessment of 0-5 population and  in-home assessment of children and families.
  • Conducts the standard DMH Child and Adolescent Assessment and completes the DCFS Summary of Findings Report.
  • Provides individual, group, conjoint, and family therapy, both short and long term.
  • Provides direct psychosocial services including supportive individual counseling, crisis intervention, group therapy, and case management.
  • Completes all required documentation, report writing, and correspondence within the mandated time frames.
  • Maintain the productivity standards established for the program.
  • Submits weekly schedule of client appointments.
  • Performs assertive community outreach to clients as necessary.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Program Manager.

 

 



Job Requirements

  • MSW from an accredited school of social work or MA in psychology or related field from an accredited school.
  • Valid registration as an Associate or Intern with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or as a Psychology Intern, a valid state waiver through DMH.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a mental health setting. Community mental health experience is highly preferred. Experience with the severely emotionally disturbed children and their families desirable.
  • At least one (1) year experience providing field-based services, including gathering assessment information.
  • Must pass DOJ Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Must have a valid California Driver License in good standing and must be insurable by the Center’s auto insurance carrier.

  • Ability to speak Spanish is HIGHLY preferred.

  • Candidates who do not meet the above MINIMUM requirements will not be considered for this position nor any other position.
