The successful candidate will be a self-starting professional who will seek, develop, and lead new business opportunities primarily within the federal government market. The individual will be expected to take the initiative to achieve measurable objectives based on contract award opportunities, operate as a member of a team in which coordination and participation are essential, and act responsibly with a degree of independence and latitude within operating parameters.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the potential to: absorb and integrate new technical and non-technical information; apply that information effectively based on the situation; interact and function well at all levels of public and private sector organizations; maintain high professional standards of appearance and conduct; and attain significant results as measured by contract awards. The individual will establish connections with private sector companies that have or may have federal contracts, and develop a network of small businesses that are performing or may be performing government work. The ability to analyze independently and objectively, write and speak well, make effective presentations tailored to customers and situations, discuss matters openly, communicate clearly, and identify all key factors pertaining to business opportunities, are critical. The area of operations for this position is the western half of the continental United States.
Job Description:
- Analyze federal government opportunities and develop and execute tactical sales strategy to meet operating goals
- Develop key relationships with decision makers in the United States Navy and Marine Corps as well as the United States Army Corps of Engineers
- Develop relationships with key elements and decision makers within NAVFAC
- Develop relationships with key decision makers in the local/regional bases and posts throughout the the assigned territory
- Sustain and build on existing partnerships with key general contracting partners
- Identify, qualify and position our Construction Services team to present winning proposals
- Develop a viable pipeline of business opportunities
- Conduct regular meaningful client contact
- Leverage field sales, operations, construction service, and corporate resources to deliver quality custom products.
- Provide superior customer service along with the ability to efficiently resolve customer issues.
- Creation and maintenance of a confidential customer contact database
- Respond to all federal opportunities identified on FedBizOps and FedTeds by contacting key contracting agents
- Position requires up to 50% overnight travel.
- Ideally targeting candidates located in TX, CA, and/or CO however will consider candidates located in the western half of the continental United States.

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent 3 years sales experience preferably in a construction or industrial industry
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a business development or outside sales preferably in a government / military environment
- Exceptional relationship building skills
- Demonstrated skills developing long-term customer partnerships
- Creative, motivated individual with dynamic consultative skills
- Keen customer centric attitude and behavior
- Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- PC proficiency in a Windows environment with the MS Office Suite
Strongly preferred:
- Construction sales experience in the military sector
- Sales background with established relationships within USACE and NAVFAC
- Experience with Salesforce.com
