Company Profile
Five Star had its beginnings in August of 1964. The first office was located inside Great Southern Paper Company’s property in Cedar Springs, Georgia and was chartered as Cedar Springs Federal Credit Union. In 1979, the Credit Union moved into its own facility on company property where it began expanding its financial services to other local companies and industries. The Credit Union then moved into a new building in Cedar Springs in 1985. In August 1991, the Credit Union’s name was changed to Five Star Federal Credit Union. As the Credit Union continued to grow, the decision was made in 1997 to establish the main office in its present facility in Dothan, Alabama at 411 North Foster Street. Due to the efforts of the banking industry, expansion for federal credit unions was seriously hindered in 1997. Five Star chose to convert to a state charter in August 1997 so that expansion could continue. When this occurred, the name was changed to Five Star Credit Union. Five Star has steadily grown from the original location in Cedar Springs, Georgia to a full service financial institution with over $165 million in assets and with three offices in Alabama and four offices in Georgia. Members have access to seven ATMS throughout Alabama and Georgia. Five Star offers a wide variety of benefits and services and they continually search for and assess new services and products to add to what they already offer. At Five Star, serving the needs of their membership is their top priority.
