Description This is professional and technical field administrative work responsible for all aspects of management of industrial safety, loss prevention, and vehicle accident prevention. This involves creating and operating a Risk Management program which provides the City with financial protection of its assets to losses caused buy a variety of hazards and exposures.  This is accomplished through implementation of claims and litigation management and safety/loss prevention activities including planning, developing, implementing and coordinating a city-wide safety and accident prevention program, including: periodic inspection of various facilities, buildings and equipment; preparation of reports detailing findings and recommendations for accident prevention purposes, claims review, investigation of industrial accidents: providing educational training courses for employees and supervisors to prevent on the job injuries.  Additional responsibilities are to maintain proper budgeting and ensuring the City complies with all mandatory safety regulations.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

 

(Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Risk and Insurance Management, Safety Engineering or related field, or
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the management of safety insurance claims and loss control programs, including industrial and vehicular accident prevention, and/or occupational safety and health preferably with City government, or
  • Equivalent combination of both education and experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license

 

(Desired) 

  • State of Florida’s adjusters license
  • Current or valid CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) and/or ARM (Associate in Risk Management)
