Manager, U.S. Corporate Compliance Auditing and Monitoring

Assists the Director, U.S. Corporate Compliance, and the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Department, by directing and supporting monitoring and auditing compliance in the US, and in locations outside the U.S. as requested by the Chief Compliance Officer

• Develops and oversees flexible monitoring and auditing work plans on annual and per-audit bases based on risk assessments and/or other control concerns
• Manages and conducts both corporate compliance and value added assignments in accordance with current monitoring and auditing standards
• Works with the Director, U.S. Corporate Compliance and management on the development and implementation of monitoring and auditing procedures and protocols that effectively determine compliance with policies and procedures, and their effectiveness
• Oversees and performs monitoring and auditing to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and Synthes’ policies, procedures and protocols, and to evaluate processes in terms of process improvements, efficiencies, cost reductions and mitigation of risks
• Oversees and writes formal monitoring and auditing reports to the Director, Corporate Compliance summarizing the issues identified and associated action plans
• Oversees and conducts close-out meetings with management and employees most directly affected by reports, and prepares supporting documentation identifying the control weaknesses identified; analyzes risks associated with the issues identified, and recommends actions to address those issues; works with management to reach agreements on issues and action plans
• Tracks corrective actions through completion
• Prepares audit information, including statistics and metrics, for inclusion in reports to management
• Oversees and conducts special investigations and analyses at the request of the Director, U.S. Corporate Compliance
• Provides support to the work of the Internal Audit Department and external auditors as requested by the Director, U.S. Corporate Compliance or the Chief Compliance Officer
• Minimum of 8 years of experience monitoring and auditing corporate compliance matters affecting the health care industry
• Experience in monitoring and auditing issues affecting the medical device or pharmaceutical industries is preferred
• Undergraduate college degree required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and technical materials
• Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues on compliance-related policies and procedures
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with individuals holding diverse viewpoints and opinions
• Capable of handling confidential information with discretion
• Demonstrates integrity and the respect of peers
• Candidate must be willing to travel to locations outside of the West Chester, Pennsylvania area 15-20% of the time
