Quality Manager
DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is seeking a Quality Manager to work within the operations department of Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will report to the RCOO Mining and Tunneling.
DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is a division of DYWIDAG-Systems International headquartered in Munich, Germany. DSI produces and supplies high quality products for mining and construction applications around the world.
Primary responsibilities include all aspects of quality including preparing organization for ISO certificiation/re-certification, management review of quality system and developing, implementing, executing and monitoring quality control procedures and standards associated with purchased material, in-process material and finished products to ensure consistency with established standards, customer specifications and production goals.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Makes suggestions with regards to procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate, maintain and improve product quality and efficiencies.
- Determines overall production quality by conducting routine and non-routine testing and analyses on processes, raw material, packaging and finished product.
- Confirms that quality procedures are being maintained.
- Educates and instructs personnel in recommended quality control testing, equipment maintenance and housekeeping practices.
- Serves as a quality control liaison between other departments, vendors or contractors.
- Monitors testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
- Interprets test results, compares them to established specifications and control limits, and makes recommendations for corrective measures.
- Develops and/or adapts inspection equipment to meet quality control standards.
- Analyzes facts and circumstances surrounding quality problems to determine what action should be taken.
- Resolves major quality problems at production facilities and warehouses as required.
- Evaluates and implements corrective action when necessary.
- Prepares and communicates evaluations performed with appropriate personnel and makes including establishing timetable for improvement and corrections.
- Perpares organization for ISO 9001 certification/re-certifications and audits.
- Performs management review of the quality system.
- Follows-up and closes pending preventive and corrective action requests.
- Advises/administers organization's documentation and controls of management systems.
- Communicates with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
-
Minimum of 5 years experience with international quality system rules, regulations, including planning, implementing and achieving ISO 9001 certification in a manufacturing environment.

Thorough knowledge of inspection and quality control methods, techniques and equipment.

Experience with developing/documenting procedures.
-
Quality oriented and high attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience working with high performance teams.

Problem analysis and problem resolution skills (Six Sigma and Lean experience preferred).

Computer proficient.
Physical requirements

- Occasional exposure to elements such as odor noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. Safety glasses with side shields, gloves and safety shoes are required in all production areas.
