Description
Minnesota Oncology is a group of 50 oncology sub-specialists dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers – lung, breast, gynecological, colorectal, prostate cancer and others – as well as many blood disorders. MOHPA has ten clinic locations in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, and is an affiliate of US Oncology, one of the nation’s largest cancer treatment and research networks. This affiliation assures access to the most advanced treatments, as well as allowing participation in many new cancer-related clinical research trials.
We are looking for an Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Certified Physician Assistant to join our Fridley Clinic staff.
Scope of position
Provide primary care to oncology patients in a collaborative joint practice with oncologists. Scope of responsibility includes expert patient care as provider/practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant, nurse researcher and nurse leader.
Essential responsibilities
- Completes comprehensive health histories and assessments
- performs physical exams
- sees and cares for clinic patients in follow-up
- incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice
- provides case management for oncology patients and their families
- assists physicians and performs procedures as needed
- assess patient/family needs and provides education
- support the survivorship program - promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner
Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education; current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner; minimum of three years experience as a practicing NP; experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effect of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred.
Physician Assistant
Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Minimum of three years experience as a practicing Physician Assistant.Prefer previous experience in oncology. Current Minnesota state license as a Physician Assistant. Current CPR certification required. Current BCLS and PALS certification required.
