Position Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring new F5 hardware designs are highly manufacturable by focusing on DFT and providing test coverage feedback to the hardware design team as early in the design process as possible. The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer is also responsible for the design, development, and cost of test systems used in the manufacturing of F5 Networks products.

Responsibilities
  • Develops, executes, and maintains a comprehensive manufacturing test strategy plan for all products. These plans are to provide 100% test coverage for the product.
  • Collaborates with hardware design engineers to ensure DFT best practices are achieved by providing feedback during the design phase via design review feedback.
  • Collaborates on board level test fixture design for use in functional and burn-in testing to employ standard test equipment (DMM, o-scope, freq counters, etc).
  • Works with Product Development group to develop detailed test requirements and test specifications.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required on a periodic basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Expert knowledge with Design for Test and Design for Manufacturing implementation and execution.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal specification documents and develop a comprehensive test plan for NPI.
  • A working knowledge of Unix/Linux and MS Windows systems.
  • Ability to write technical reports for both internal and external customers.
  • A good knowledge of Ethernet applications/protocols such as TCP/IP, web and internet applications.
  • A thorough knowledge of test theory and application. Good verbal and written communication skills using Microsoft Office s/w tools.
  • Candidate needs to have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction.
  • The candidate should be familiar with basic reliability concepts and be skilled in using analytical tools to provide various metrics to predict trends and provide quality feedback to CM.
  • The candidate must be familiar with test techniques and methods for a variety of computer and networking hardware types.
  • Having previous experience in working with a Contract Manufacturer is a big plus.
  • Must have experience with board functional and system test methodologies
  • BSEE degree or equivalent with a test engineering background in PCBA functional and system test.
  • The candidate shall have a minimum of 15 years industry experience with familiarity of high tech manufacturing related to board functional and system level testing.
  • Familiar with PCBA ICT design to coordinate with contract design house to develop fixtures.
  • Expert knowledge using C, perl, expect, or python scripting in designing low level diagnostics for PCBA and system level testing.
  • Expert knowledge in LabVIEW software development is a plus. This includes the ability to create, modify, and update complex code in a timely manner. CLD or equivalent skill level is preferred.

    • Physical Demands and Work Environment
      Job may be performed in a lab environment or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to travel up to 15% via automobile and airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
