Description
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Responsible for general accounting functions including financial reporting of practice operations and support of practice management.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Maintain multiple general ledgers
2. Prepare monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.
3. Prepare detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports to support practice management in the review of monthly operating performance.
4. Prepare monthly reports for key indicators and statistics.
5. Assist practice management, as needed with financial information requests and questions
6. Distribute monthly reports to appropriate practice management personnel.
7. Prepare monthly reconciliations for all Balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances.
8. Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
9. Prepare and submit annual personal property tax and Sales & Use tax returns, as required.
10. Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury and A/R (CBO), as directed. Maintain ongoing documentation.
11. Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
12. Respond to requests for information from Corporate, Internal Audit and other internal management.
13. Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and / or proprietary information is
adequately safeguarded against disclosure
14. Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - This position requires the following minimum requirements:
1. Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems
2. Knowledge of the financial accounting process
3. Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data and information
4. Knowledge of accounting information systems
5. Proficiency with PC-based spreadsheet and word processing programs
6. Effective organizational skills
7. Ability to analyze financial reports
8. Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports
9. Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately
10. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
11. Ability to work well with others
12. Ability to organize work independently and consistently achieve reporting deadlines
13. Ability to interact with other individuals at all levels of management
EDUCATION - Associate of Arts or technical accounting degree; preferably a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in accounting or other business–related field. Additional related experience would be considered in lieu of a completed degree program
EXPERIENCE – Two years of progressive accounting experience; preferably in a physician practice management or healthcare-related environment. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of healthcare accounting experience.
