Job Description

Position Description

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating technical solutions for PeopleSoft applications.  Work closely with project team to design, develop, document and unit test system code.  Recommend changes in development, maintenance, system standards and processes. Provide application technical support consistent with defined service levels.  Follow Medtronic Shared Services IT (SSIT) standards, procedures and methodologies for project management and system development.  Must have working knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM.

 

Position Responsibilities
• Plan and implement HR Systems projects and enhancement, including documentation.
• Ability to work with Business Analysts on requirements gathering/clarification and design.
• Implements and tests new or modified services and/or programs.  Corrects program errors.
• Works with and advises clients in areas assigned on project needs and design.
• Ability to estimate work effort for development and enhancement requests.
• Maintains competency in the technology related to responsibilities (PeopleSoft, Saba, Crystal, etc).
• Participate in on-call pager rotation.
• Participate in troubleshooting initiatives for issues that arise.
• Understand and utilize SSIT tools, standards, and methodologies for project management, documentation, system development, and implementation.
• Communicate with customer to ensure understanding of requirements.
• Identify and capture requirements for smaller scale projects, participate in producing work estimates.
• Maintain a productive relationship with business sponsors and end users.
• Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
• Ensure that Medtronic's systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Medtronic's Information Protection Policies and Standards, as well as best Information Protection practices.

 

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED
• Bachelor's degree OR 8 years of work experience in lieu of a 4 year degree or a combination of work and education to equal a 4 year degree 

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of IT or related development experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
• 3+ years working with PeopleSoft HCM and associated development tools
• PeopleTools 8.X, including PeopleCode, SQR, App Engine, and Component Interface
• Oracle SQL and relational database design

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Prioritization skills.
• Analytical problem solving skills.
• Able to work independently as well as cooperativelyWorking understanding of complex software and information technology solutions and ability to apply to client needs.
• PeopleSoft Workflow
• PeopleSoft Integration Broker
• PeopleSoft EPM, Data Warehouse, and HR Help Desk
• Unix and Intel server expertise
• Web development experience, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS
• PL/SQL
• SQL Performance Tuning
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or business related discipline.
• Oracle/PeopleSoft certifications for HRMS
• Work experience in the Medical Device Industry, or other regulated industry
• Experience with Employee and Manager Self-Service

 

Physical Job Requirements
• Travel by auto to and from work locations
