Bus Driver for Head Start Center

*  Provide safe transportation to assigned children and remains with a child until a designated adult arrives.

*  Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner following all NYS V&T Laws and Regs. including loading and unloading children, stopping at railroad crossings and handles emergency situations, including vehicle evacuation and administration of basic first aid.

*  Establish a good physical and emotional climate on the bus which is conducive to the optimum development of each child.

 *  Use and care  for agency vehicles ensuring proper routine maintenance of bus, including cleaning and sanitation and conducts daily pre and post trip safety checks per agency checklist.

*  Maintain accurate records; insures that a written attendance count is taken each time the bus is loaded and unloaded checking the bus each time it is unloaded to insure no child is left in the vehicle.

* Must maintain good attendance record:

* Must greet  families in a pleasant and respectful manner;  

* Must carry out all duties and responsibilities in compliance with DOT and program regulations, including maintaining appropriate transportation records.

* Must keep physical examinations, CPR and First Aid certifications current.

• Valid New York State, CDL-B or C with P and S endorsements, No N restrictions, bearing no more than six (6) violation points as verified by Abstract of Operating Record for theDepartment of Motor Vehicles.
• Must meet all current child care employee regulations—background checks, training requirements, Must meet NYS Article 19-A physical exam requirements
• Must be functionally literate and able to relate to, work with and communicate with diverse populations Meet NYS Article 19-A qualifications.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
