Farm Laborers

Description Onion Packing Shed Laborers wanted from November 15, 2009 to April 30, 2010 for Peri & Sons Farms in Yerington, Nevada. There are 300 temporary positions available. Workers will be required to properly grade onions by visually inspecting onions; this includes color, size, shape and visual appeal of the onions. Must be able to operate a bagging machine. This includes but is not limited to; adding empty bags to the bagger removing full bags, cinching and tying the bags closed, weighing the bags on a platform scale, and lifting the bag to a conveyor belt. Must be able to lift and/or move 20-50 pound sacks and stand for long hours.

Hours may vary between 7 to 12 hours daily, 5 to 7 days per week depending on demand for onions. Three quarters of the hours of the contract period are guaranteed. Tools, supplies, equipment provided by employer at no cost to the worker. No cost housing will be provided for single individuals, no family housing available. Transportation and subsistence expenses to worksite will be provided by employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract, or earlier if appropriate. Hourly rate is $7.64.
