Position Summary
The Order Entry Technician performs data entry of new and refill prescription orders received from centers. His/her goal is to achieve the highest degree of accuracy possible while maintaining acceptable production quotas as determined by experience and company policy.
The Data Entry Technician interacts with the other departments in the pharmacy in an effort to produce prescription labels for dispensing technicians and pharmacists on a scheduled basis according to predetermined delivery times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitors fax machines for incoming orders and input same into computer in a timely manner.
  • Enters new and refill orders and discontinues orders according to client specific criteria, into appropriate center profile.
  • Admits new customer into pharmacy profiles.
  • Enters drug credits into the computer system when applicable.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the specific pharmacy area or responsibility.
    -Identifies non-pharmacy items that require further processing and forwards to appropriate area (i.e., sales orders, IV orders, Med B orders, MAR orders, etc.).
    -Provides research via computer as needed to track prescription orders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements 

Education, Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Data entry experience, preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer system.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (including sig codes and Roman numerals), brand and generic names of medications and general pharmacy terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance procedures.
  • Ability to perform accurately and efficiently when inputting information.
  • Intermediate typing/keyboarding skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.


Shift:  Full-Time, Afternoon/Evening Hours and E/O Weekend
