job description

Become a Family Counselor with Youth Villages in Columbus, MS (Starkville, MS)

Company Overview:

Youth Villages is a national leader in the adoption and implementation of research-based treatment philosophies in the field of children's mental and behavioral health.  Our commitment to helping troubled children and their families find success spans 20 years and includes a comprehensive array of programs and services.

Program Overview:

Our Intercept program serves a broad population of youth, including those involved with multiple child-serving systems and those at high risk of removal from their families.  The program specializes in diverting youth from out of home placements by helping their families safely maintain youth in their home environment.  Intercept also focuses on reunification of youth who are in a residential treatment or foster home setting.

Position Overview:

- Holistic Approach: Provide treatment to the entire family, rather than just the identified youth.  Work with the family hands-on to build trust and align them with treatment.

- Small Caseloads: Work with four to six families at a time to give clients the attention they deserve.

- Intensive services: Meet with families at least three times weekly and are on call 24/7 M-F with a rotating weekend on-call schedule.

- Intensive but flexible schedule:  Deliver services in the family's home or wherever they need us (school, court, etc.) and schedule sessions around families’ needs.

- Individualized Treatment: Design treatment to meet each individual family's needs; ongoing assessment and review of treatment progress assures individualized service

- Time-limited service: Treatment usually lasts three to six months

- High Levels of Support and Supervision: Work closely with multiple types of clinical supervision provided in individual and group settings, led by trained and licensed professionals

Additional Information:
