INDUSTRIAL SALES MANAGER

TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY

CLIENT BASE INCLUDES ALL MUNICIPAL - COUNTY - STATE - FLEETS

BASE SALARY $75,000.00 - 90,000.00

COMMISSIONS - $25,000.00 - 40,000.00

GENEROUS AUTO ALLOWANCE AND RELATED EXPENSES

The purpose of this position is to drive Product growth and profitability within the Truck Division by developing and implementing a business plan that includes a Total Truck Repair Strategy.

To be effective, the Sales Manager must establish an understanding of the following objectives and accountabilities.

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Sales to develop sales programs needed to achieve company goals.
  • Develop and monitor annual sales goals for each in all Product Support areas, ie, Service, Parts.
  • Provide direction to the team to help achieve Customer Satisfaction goals.
  • Maintain inter-departmental relations that foster overall company growth and profitability.
  • Follow consistent, established policies and procedures across all branches and divisions.
  • Target a diverse customer base through marketing efforts and promote our wide range of Product Support offerings.
  •  Provide information to Management in order to implement “yield management" strategies to effectively manage Product Support offerings in response to market conditions and established goals.
  • Gather information specific to each region from the Sales Rep and implement sales programs based upon this information.
  • Work closely with the Sales Reps to provide consistent messaging to customers and employees, and to foster growth, profitability and Customer Satisfaction in the region.
  • Work closely with the Other Company Sales Managers and Regional Sales Managers to coordinate sales calls from Sales Representatives. 
  •  Work closely with the Training Department to develop a comprehensive Total Truck training program for Service Technicians and Parts personnel.
  • Develop, in conjunction with Inventory Management, a Parts procurement plan for Total Truck repair

    Supportive Job Functions:
  • Provide information to assist the Vice President of Sales in creation of the annual forecast, budget, and long range planning.
  • Understands all facets of financial reporting (P/L statements and Balance sheets) and along with controlling expenses within the company, monitors the G/L distribution of income and expenses to assure accurate reporting each month.
  •  Understands all Product Support measurements such as Productivity, WIP, Parts Turnover, Emergency Fee Expense, etc.
  • Understands Sales Link and is able to extract information from it.
  • Stays informed of market conditions (competitors and pricing trends) and customer needs and relays this information to the Vice Presidents.
  • Analyzes the local markets and relays information to the Vice Presidents appropriately, reporting changes in competitive offerings, market stability, and growth opportunities.
  • Make direct customer contact to ensure customer satisfaction levels.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree preferred with additional training in the following areas:
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the sales, service and systems operations
  • Experience in the Trucking industry or equivalent experience in a closely related industry.
  • Some closely related industries would include Construction or Material Handling operations.
  • Must be a leader with great people skills, enthusiastic personality, a proven communicator, and possess the ability to motivate a sales team.
  • Sound organizational skills with the ability to coordinate programs and logistics associated with the programs.
  • Previous business or sales management experience is preferred. A lesser emphasis is placed on mechanical aptitude although this is very beneficial.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Equipment/product knowledge (application, service).
  • Working knowledge (overview)/support of every key position.
  • Technical proficiency.
  • Valid Drivers License.
