Description The purpose of this position is to assist in Wegmans Food Markets new store and remodel Construction project administration and serve as direct support to the on-site Construction team.

Job Responsibilities Include:

·         Act at the direction of the Project Manager and support the Project Superintendents; understand their techniques including Wegmans Construction Department management system for scheduling and cost control

·         Attend job-related meetings and prepare agenda, when required; Take meeting minutes in Wegmans Construction Department format, distribute notes and update project plans accordingly

·         Confirm progress by field verified quantity and updates

·         Utilize Microsoft Project to provide schedule reports, and review project schedule with Project Manager and Superintendent

·         Build and maintain strong rapport with project team

·         Act as a technical advisor on interpretation of Construction specifications

·         Review cost and process change orders

·         Audit safety to identify and resolve deficiencies

·         Understand and generate the contract documents utilized by Wegmans Construction  Department to manage contractors and vendors

·         Manage all equipment deliveries

·         Learn building mechanical systems

 

This position will require overnight travel to store locations, frequently to Maryland, Virginia and Southern Pennsylvania

Requirements Required Skills and Experience Include:

·         Associate degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience

·         Must possess at least one year of hands on construction field experience, preferably working on commercial projects

·         Knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC/Refrigeration, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Building Controls, etc. 

·         PC Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Word and Excel

·         Use available resources to pursue goals and challenges with the intent of achieving results, striving for continued excellence and taking appropriate risks

·         Use multiple resources to analyze data for abnormal findings, further investigating where warranted and identifying cause-effect relationships impacting the data

·         Work towards continuous improvement to encourage change; find ways to increase profitability and productivity; and improve processes, products & customer service in the department(s)

·         Cross-functional collaboration: initiate dialogue around different points-of-view to find a common ground; lead interdepartmental teams, facilitating organizational consensus and creating synergies to arrive at the best business outcome

·         Effectively deal with ambiguity, handling risk and uncertainty with comfort

·         Use data analysis, wisdom, experience, judgment, and past actions as well as input from other sources for decision making

·         Exhibit organizational agility identifying and establishing relationships with people in the company who can get things done and use formal and informal channels effectively

·         Possess strong listening skills and hear many points of view without bias, asking clarifying questions to check for understanding

·         Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
