Description

BILLING SPECIALIST

 

Summary: Ensure all claims designated to the individual are worked and paid within specified period of time.

 

  1. Follow-up on charges submitted as delegated by supervisor/manager
  2. Ensure insurances or patients are contacted for all claims relegated to the individual witin 2 weeks of prior contact or initial submission
  3. Correct any problems with the claim(s) including but not limited to proper CPT, icd-9 code, insurance identification number, submission to correct address
  4. Answer insurance and patient calls regarding all claims
  5. Document all denials for all claims in the software system utilizing proper coding of dential to enable reporting of denials
  6. Notify supervisor/manager of any trend in claim denial to ensure corrective action is taken on subsequent submission of claims
  7. Provide report to supervisor/manager of accounts worked each day
  8. Follow-up on 60 claims per day
  9. Ensure payment of 80% of claim within 45 days of last contact with the insurance company or patient
  10. Print out claims and/or additional medical documentation as needed to ensure payment of the claim
  11. Other projects may be designated by supervisor/manager
