Job Description

MDwise Hoosier Alliance is currently seekly a full-time Case/Utilization Management Technician, or CM/UM Tech.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Case Management/Utilization Management Technician, under the direction of the Supervisor of Case Management, coordinates, generates and tracks both incoming and outgoing correspondence related to members for services or prospective services; conducts screening/surveys for case management services and identifies member needs for Care Coordination.  Implements selected interventions according to program guidelines for members. Interacts with members, providers, facilities and other MDwise Hoosier Alliance staff members to implement the program interventions, facilitate receipt of information and records for prompt review and response by the clinical staff.

  2. Communicate effectively in person and via the telephone with members, physicians, health care providers, community resources, and others.
  3. Accurate, complete, and timely record keeping and documentation.
  4. Problem solving skills.
  5. Effective in providing information to members.
  6. Computer literate and proficient in use of commonly used software products, including, but not limited to word processing, spread sheets, database programs.


Job Requirements

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Strongly prefer medical assistant, home health aide, nursing assistant, or other similar health care para-professional training or certification

 

Experience:

  • Medical Terminology highly recommended ·        
  • Prior member service or customer service telephone experience desired

  

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

  • Preferred but not required, certification as a para-professional, medical assistant, home health aide, or nursing assistant a plus
