Description Group Benefit Services, Inc. is a Third Party Administrator providing a full spectrum of products and services designed to support the distribution, delivery, and administration of employee benefits for groups of all sizes.  We offer a great work environment along with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.  We currently have an immediate opening for an Extended Benefits Administrator at our Hunt Valley, MD office.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Process election forms for fully-insured and self-funded accounts.
  • Prepare 45-day letters to acknowledge elections and request payment.
  • Reinstate coverage for eligible electing members.
  • Complete all carrier and company updates at time of member reinstatements.
  • Invoice new members to date based on billing cycle.
  • Generate monthly invoices to all existing fully insured members based on scheduled date.
  • Review all monthly fully-insured and self-funded invoices for accuracy.
  • Process enrollment changes based on company and carrier guidelines.
  • Terminate members for non-payment based on Cobra payment timeframes and issue appropriate member notification letters.
  • Update all carriers and companies at time of member cancellation processing.
  • Update members during plan renewals.
  • Maintain participant logs and files.
  • Maintain updated filing of all documentation and prepare outdated materials to be sent to offsite storage.
  • Generate daily qualifying event letters and mail to members and employer groups.
  • Generate one and six month letters and update member on conversion options.
  • Follow-up to collect past due balances for fully-insured and self-funded members.
  • Request premium refunds for overpayments.
  • Generate weekly HIPAA certificates and manual certificates as needed.
  • Provide group updates regarding extending members to fully-insured and self-funded groups as requested.
  • Monitor receivables and apply withhold care as necessary for fully-insured members. 
  • Set up new fully-insured Cobra or Maryland State Extension administration; provide internal updates and prepare client and broker confirmation letters.
  • Assist with set up of new self-funded Cobra groups.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Keep informed about benefits, products, laws, regulations and procedures.
  • Be aware of areas for more efficient administration, opportunities for automation or reorganization and discuss with supervisors and/or administration meetings.
  • Provide quality service in terms of accuracy and timeliness and meet or exceed accepted standards of performance.
  • Assist in the development and support of GBS growth and services by participation and improvement skills, where necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
