Director of Marketing Analytics

 

Position Summary & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  

The Director of Marketing Analytics is a critical resource for evaluating the effectiveness of the company’s marketing function.  The director analyzes marketing activities and recommends ways to improve our return on investment.  He or she plays an important role in determining the most effective ways to allocate marketing resources and maximize return.  The director is the company’s eyes on the marketplace, carefully monitoring competitors and the company’s performance.  In addition to strong analytical skills, the successful director of marketing analytics possesses strong communications skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to play an integral role in growing the business.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and activities, including direct mail, print and broadcast advertising, email, pay-per-click advertising, Web site activity, and other marketing activities.
  • Identify and implement a customer relationship management solution to improve the effectiveness of planning, delivery, and tracking of marketing campaigns.
  • Manage quantitative and qualitative marketing research projects.
  • Create methodologies to improve acquisition and retention effectiveness.
  • Track and analyze the competitive marketplace.
  • Manage the budget supporting marketing analytics activities.
  • Manage large-scale market research projects in partnership with third-party research vendors.  Conduct surveys, or other research, to support ad hoc needs.


Job Requirements

 

  • Ten to 15 years experience, with a focus on analysis (e.g., database marketing, management science, or information management).
  • Experience in analysis of online and offline marketing activities.
  • Experience in evaluation, implementation, and/or use of customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the online marketing landscape.
  • Ability to work effectively with third-party vendors.
  • Experience in quantitative market research, including use of online surveying and analytical tools.  Familiarity with market research activities, including questionnaire development, statistical methods, etc.
  • Excellent communications skills; ability to translate data into information, then into business recommendations.
  • Strong expertise in computer software, including Microsoft Office products, SPSS (or similar analytics program), and others.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, though able to work effectively as a team member.
  • Familiarity with the education landscape is beneficial, but not necessary.
