Building Automation Systems (BAS) Controls Technician

 

Position Title:       BAS Controls Technician

Job Category:      Controls/Contracting

Reports To:          BAS Operations Manager

Department:         BAS

 Description:
The BAS Controls Technician is responsible for designing, overseeing installation of, and commissioning environmental-comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of HVAC systems and modern control techniques.

Responsibilities:
Design & drafting of DDC Control systems from plans and specifications for HVAC applications (using CAD Systems) to produce shop drawings.

End-to-end wiring checks, commissioning & programming of DDC controllers.

Use a variety of hand tools to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment to shop drawing specifications.

Prepare for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.

Document projects by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.

Represent company by serving as a direct customer contact.

Provide technical support to customers.

Other duties as required.

Travel may be required.

Requirements

Minimum requirements include the following:

 

4+ years industry experience with HVAC controls (experience with Trane controls is preferred).

Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints and/or engineering specifications.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Visio and other CAD software.

General technical competence with computer hardware, software and compatibility issues.

Knowledge of basic computer programming is an asset.

Degree or diploma in a relevant discipline will be considered an asset.
