Job Summary: We are currently accepting applications for an IT Assistant to assist with the operations of computer and peripheral equpment and user support for our multi-facility organization. Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills and a desire to learn and grow in the IT profession.
Requirements
1. Loads specific software packages such as operating systems, including word processing or spreadsheet programs into computer as directed by the manager. (MS Office, Adobe, Windows XP, Windows 7, Win 2003/2008 Server, Solidworks, Antivirus, Firmware/BIOS Upgrades, Thin Client Setup, Router/Networking/Wireless, Citrix/Terminal Services, VMWare, Linux, and Printing)
2. Assists the manager in the installation and testing of necessary software and hardware for local and remote users.
3. Reads technical manuals to learn correct settings for equipment.
4. Demonstrates use of computer equipment and software to users
5. Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials such as disks, CD/DVD and printer paper for operating.
6. In charge of monitoring and maintaining IT Helpdesk software for trouble tickets. Ensures timely follow up solutions for end users’ IT issues.
7. Responds to user inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems.
8. Provides updates, status and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
9. Maintains and completes preventative maintenance schedule on equipment.
10. Responsible for the documentation and inventory management of equipment in helpdesk inventory system.
11. Documents procedures and troubleshooting solutions in IT Helpdesk System.
12. Communicates with vendors and completes project research as directed by IT Manager.
13. Assist in user training as directed by IT Manager.
14. Records problems which occurred, such as down time, and actions taken.
15. Catalogs and maintains backup images and hard drives site to site.
16. Responsible for the efficient setup and troubleshooting of printers.
17. Assists the IT Manager to monitor and maintain Network Performance Systems, Antivirus, and Update servers.
Education/Experience: 1-2 years relation experience and/or training or 2 years education in formal education.
Travel: Occasional travel to our Madison, SD facility.
