JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Navy Social Worker, you are key to connecting families to the care and support they need. Counseling currently serving and retired military personnel and their families. Helping children have a smooth transition when they relocate to new cities and schools. Building strong, supportive communities within the Navy population.

In short, you will help those who face some of life’s greatest challenges. So our men and women in the Navy and Marines can focus on what they do best: keeping our country safe.

Your responsibilities as a Navy Social Worker may include:

  • Conducting awareness workshops and leading conflict resolution training
  • Working as part of a team that includes Developmental Pediatricians, Occupational and Physical Therapists, and other professionals in the distinguished Navy Medical Service Corps
  • Serving in a variety of medical and family support centers throughout the world
  • Acting as an advocate and guide in coordinating services for individuals and families

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for an Active Duty Social Worker position in the Navy Medical Service Corps, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen licensed to practice in the U.S. (contact a Navy Medical Officer Recruiter for details)
  • Have received a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
  • Have a minimum of two years’ full-time supervised clinical social work experience (post-master’s degree)
  • Possess a current state license
  • Be willing to serve a minimum of three years of Active Duty
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 41
  • Be in good physical condition and pass a full medical examination
