Description
SUMMARY
Performs analysis on electrical and mechanical engineering drawings to determine methods of insulation, parts list, and tool requirements. Acts in a support function to the repair station to provide technical support to completion modifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Prepares lists of materials, accessories, and parts used in the completion of MDHI aricraft following engineering and design blueprints.
- Examines blueprints, identifies parts code, computes quantity needed, and lists total material requirements including contract numbers, routing, and special handling instructions. Submits list to purchasing department for use in preparing purchase orders.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing by coordinating engineering changes, drawing interpretation issues, determining tooling requirements, and resolving producibility problems.
- Works with Manufacturing, Design Engineering and Procurement to determine methods, processes and materials to optimize producibility and cost of commercial aircraft components and new products.
- Works with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Procurement, and Quality Assurance departments to resolve production issues or implement improvements.
- Work with minimum supervision on large, complex assignments; reviews and approves planning and engineering packages.
- Regular attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University with 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum requirements include five years of aerospace manufacturing and assembly experience as a manufacturing engineer.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, and the ability to communicate with a professional engineering staff.
- Ability to interpret electrical engineering drawings is required and knowledge of avionics systems and components is highly preferred.
- Experience with implementing lean manufacturing and concurrent product development is preferred.
- A strong aerospace technical background is preferred specifically in aircraft structures, assembly and tooling.
- Regular attendance is required
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
