Job Description 


Mission Statement: Division leadership role required to drive the sourcing teams to even greater results. The role is to establish comprehensive supply chain development plans and drive cross-ABB AP unit and multi-Division coordination in line with the Group Footprint Strategy and local Divisional priorities. This position requires the ability to integrate a working knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM) principles and practices to implement ABB Group, Automation Products Division and NAM objectives. Fundamental skills include excellent project planning skills, negotiation skills, action-oriented approach to problem solving and impeccable follow-through and business ethics. This position is responsible to ensure that ABB attracts the best suppliers who will offer their best quality, delivery and lowest total cost.

Main Accountabilities
• Align ABB SCM strategy and targets across AP NAM Business Units and develop a strategy to achieve and exceed targets.
• Partner with Local Business Unit GM’s and Operational Leaders to assess and improve current supply chain activities within AP NAM.
• Lead the AP NAM Strategic Sourcing Initiative and continue to drive cost savings within Direct External and Indirect Spend categories.
• Build partnerships and (where necessary) lead negotiations with external suppliers, participate in negotiations with common suppliers to other ABB business units.
• Develop Suppliers for continuous improvement to quality, delivery and total costs.
• Implements and monitors Performance Measurements for all procurement activities.
• Effective in creating business, commercial and legal agreements with suppliers, together with Contracts Administration.
• Implements and monitors performance measurements for all procurement activities including, improved use of the eSMART reporting tool within AP NAM.
• Initiate action plans with external and internal suppliers to reduce supply-related COPQ (cost of poor quality) via productivity tools (delivery performance, inventory optimization, value analysis, etc.).
• Collaborate with local LBU and Global SCM counterparts and commodity team leadership to leverage ABB buying power with the supply base, conduct recurring business reviews of commodities.
• Ensure processes and procedures are in full compliance with ABB Group Directives, Supply Management Directives/policy, and local table of authority, policies and ABB business ethics policies and procedures.
• Ensure full compliance with SOX (Sarbanes Oxley), ISO9001/14000/18000 Systems and actively promote a safe working environment as outlined in ISO 18000 and ABB Policy.
• Perform Supplier Qualification Assessments and other required documents.
• Assure compliance to all local laws and regulations.
• Deploy and leverage ABB processes/tools/methodologies to guarantee widespread implementation of best practices

Dimensions:

• Direct supervision: No direct reports, only dotted line responsibility for all LBU supply chain leaders within Automation Products, North America.
• Financial responsibilities: Responsibility for over $350M of supplier purchases across North America.
• Leadership within the Matrix
o Interaction with all LBU General Managers across AP North America
o Requires strong relationships with Canadian, Mexican and Global AP Supply Chain leadership.
 


Job Requirements 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Degree in engineering / business / science; MBA or Supply Chain / Purchasing diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
• 5 to 10 years experience in Supply Chain Management
• English language is mandatory, other languages are an asset
• Good command of Excel, PowerPoint, Access database and web research tools
• High energy, pro-active and entrepreneurial leader
• Able to work in a matrix organization with a diverse workteam.
