We are currently seeking a Vice President for the Special Risk line of business.  The Special Risk line of business consists of college accident/sickness and sports, K-12 accident/sickness and sports, and non-student special risk coverages. 

 

Vice President Special Risk

This position directs the sales and administration for Special Risk but does not have direct responsibility for claims. The primary focus of this position is to work with existing and new agents while reviewing underwriting to profitably grow the Special Risk business. 

 

The Vice President of Special Risk will develop long range objectives for the division including details for meeting those objectives, establish department budget and is accountable for profitable sales as measured against plan.

 

Sixty percent of time is spent as follows:

  • Interacting with Agents and schools to develop benefit programs
  • Working with National Sales Managers to negotiate new General Agent agreements so as to meet sales plan objectives
  • Solicitation and servicing of agency force
  • Meeting with current producing General Agents regarding quality and quantity of business
  • Answering questions and handling problems related to all aspects of the business, such as: policy interpretation, commissions and regulatory issues
  • Annual design and rating of student accident and college accident programs
  • Tracking competition

 

Twenty percent of time is spent as follows:

  • Preparation and filing of policies and all related printing
  • Coordinating with compliance, actuary, accounting and claims
  • Budgeting, projected loss ratios, reserves, premium assumptions

 

Internal administrative support is provided by Product Approval and Compliance and Claims.  External administrative support is provided by various third party administrators.

 Decision making:

Rating of college cases and student programs

Rating of individual benefits

Commissions and contracts

Consult with Senior Vice President to determine goals of Special Risk division as they relate to overall goals of Guarantee Trust.
