Requirements
Monitor health and welfare of participants while in the program. Communicate health changes/participant health status to families/caregivers.
Provide quarterly assessment of staff skills in administration of medication and delegate license to those staff that meet standards.
Serve as a liaison for participants, caregivers, staff and medical rehab professionals around medical issues.
Insure medications are stored per standard medical practices and regulations.
Assist in operational troubleshooting. Provide on-call advice as emergencies arise.
Facilitate and advise participants and or family regarding dietary concerns
Monitor participant’s vital signs at least monthly and as appropriate for health monitoring and maintenance.
Maintain clinical notes and accident and illness logs as appropriate for program participants and employees, follow up as appropriate.
Conduct in-service training to staff, as needed.
Present medical/educational training to staff at least monthly.
Work with Division Management team to assist in the development, planning, and implementation of protocols, policies, procedures, forms and reporting of health and wellness related issues of MRDD programs.
Assist with compliance of files in reference to care plans and medical information to meet MRDD requirements.
Consult with MRDD Services Coordinator on staff health status to determine if health status impacts welfare of participants.
Advocate for participants rights.
Must be available to travel to assist in other agency programs.
Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards training throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
Supervises all program participants and designated staff in situational assessments within the medical area, i.e., LPN, Activities/Personal Care Aide, nursing students, vocational trainees, etc. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work for health care staff, appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining those staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems
