POSITION SUMMARY:
SCHOOL SPECIALTY, INC. is seeking an experienced OUTBOUND MANAGER for our state-of-the-art distribution center in Mt. Joy, PA. This is a highly automated, 400,000 sq. ft. facility.
Reporting to the Director of Distribution Operations, the Outbound Manager is responsible for the replenishment, pick, pack, and shipping operations within the distribution center. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: safety, meeting or exceeding budget expectations, meeting or exceeding departmental metrics, development of direct and indirect reports and improving operating efficiencies. Participates in the safety committee and plays a key role with regard to various aspects of safety for the facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage, develop, and mentor direct and indirect reports.
· Ensure that orders are shipped 98% accurate, complete and on-time.
· Develop processes to increase operating efficiencies.
· Maintain budgeted staffing for department.
· Perform staffing and capacity planning.
· Follow-up on customer service issues
- Serve as a key contributor to the facility’s safety program and related initiatives.
- Stay abreast of new trends and information related to position and education industry.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a business related field, logistics preferred.
· Three-five years management experience in an automated distribution environment.
· Experience in a peak season environment.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency in a tier one wms platform (pkms, logpro, yantra).
· Knowledge of automated conveyor systems, pick to light systems, and rf driven applications.
· Must be detail oriented.
· Must be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Strong analytical ability.
· Knowledge or training in: lean operations, six-sigma, kanban, or kaizen systems.
· Knowledge or experience in value added services.
· Demonstrated proficiency in a split-case picking environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft applications: excel, word, and outlook.
· Must be able to work alternate shifts during peak season.
