Job Description

Merrill Corporation is seeking a part-time, experienced Marketing Communications Writer, with plenty of natural talent, to join or St. Paul Corporate Marketing department. This individual will contribute to all company marketing efforts with a focus on writing clear, persuasive, original, results-driven copy for sales collateral, case studies, direct mail, whitepapers, sales tools, presentations, press releases, email marketing and web copy while consistently applying the Merrill voice.
 

The successful candidate will be process-oriented, well organized and a quick study with above average writing skills. Strong work ethic with a bias towards action and results, successfully prioritizing and managing several projects at once, working independently under deadlines and pressure.  Must be able to think like a marketer, write creatively and present skillfully. 
 

In addition to being an exceptional writer, you must be able to effectively collaborate with clients, design teams, and web developers. You must be self-motivated with a positive attitude. Excellent teamwork and exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills are a must.



Job Requirements

 

  • Excellent interview skills with the ability to gather the relevant information, research and fact-check.

  • Strong copy development skills with a flair for compelling value props and clean outlines
  • Ability to turn value propositions into strong marketing copy.
  • Client-centric thinking with the ability to process complex information and communicate it in a meaningful and organized manner.
  • Passion for quality and accuracy of work.
  •  Experience in writing business-to-business marketing materials required – both in print and online.
  • Knowledge of AP Style and a solid command of the English language.
  • Strong speller and a whiz with grammar with excellent copy editing and self-proofreading skills.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of the web including Social Media and writing copy for SEO.
  • Knowledge of Public Relations preferred.
  • Experience in writing to a Legal audience is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field and at least 3-5 years of copywriting required.
