CalOptima is a County Organized Health System authorized by federal law to administer Medi-Cal benefits for Orange County residents. It is governed by a board of directors and manages the health care for approximately 290,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Orange County. Since opening its doors in October of 1995, CalOptima has greatly improved access to health care for thousands of the county's poor, disabled, and aged residents.

Operating within a $790 million annual budget, CalOptima contracts with 11 health networks to provide health care to approximately 290,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries. It also participates in California's Healthy Families program and has the largest enrollment of any Healthy Families program provider in Orange County.

Job Description

CalOptima is a public health plan, created by its community, governed by its community, and accountable to its community.  CalOptima is authorized by state and federal law to administer Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, and Medicare benefits to Orange County’s low-income, aged, and disabled residents. CalOptima serves over 320,000 members, is the largest of the County Organized Health System plans in California, and is the largest insurer of children in Orange County.

 

DATA WAREHOUSE ARCHITECT

 

This position will design and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions through the creation of data warehouses, data marts, and data stores while ensuring high levels of data availability.  The Data Warehouse (DW) Architect will work in conjunction with the Data Warehouse Project Manager to be evangelists for Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse benefits across the organization and promote Business Intelligence usage to relevant departments.  Applying a strong understanding of the government health care environment, will architect solutions on the conceptual, logical, business area, and application levels.  Using a high level of data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling, will create models for new data warehouse development and changes to existing data stores.

 
Job Requirements

This Data Warehouse Architect must be an expert with SQL Data Warehouse functions (preferably Active / Real Time Data Warehouse) with a minimum 8-10 years of IT/IS experience in a large company environment, preferably in Health Care.  Candidates must have solid understanding and experience with ETL methodologies, business intelligence, and data warehouse principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures including concepts, designs, and usage of data warehouses, data marts, and operational data stores. Candidates must have expert-level experience in Data Warehouse functions.  Additionally candidates should possess 10+ years experience architecting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions; proven experience supporting JAD sessions with technical and business stakeholders to determine business information requirements; 4+ years experience developing normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) to support reporting and analytics; significant experience using modeling and repository tools such as Erwin; 4+ years experience architecting BI solutions; and 4+ years experience implementing data integration platform using advanced methods with Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, Reporting Services, SSIS, etc.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
