Job Description 

Washington Sports Clubs is currently seeking qualified General Manager candidates to manage all departments of one of our health clubs.

 

 The General Manager is responsible for management of sales, revenue, and the overall financial success of the facility. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for the recruiting, hiring, and developing employees; supervising club operations; facility management; marketing execution; loss prevention; and customer service.

Daily interactions with the club management team, along with the communication and achievement of business initiatives, will promote a General Manager’s success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Execute sales service models and strategies to achieve sales and service goals
  • Develop and implement employee performance evaluations and improvement plans
  • Resolve customer issues or complaints by determining optimal solutions
  • Analyze club’s financial data and take action to grow revenues, control costs, and ensure appropriate inventory management to achieve sales and profit goals
  • Achieve sales and customer satisfaction standards and goals by maximizing the member’s experience and the club revenue
  • Communicate, execute, and manage marketing programs to achieve key initiatives and meet specific monthly and annual sales and profit goals
  • Evaluate current club processes, programs, and systems for continuous improvement and innovation opportunities
  • Conduct regular meetings and communicate business plans
  • Monitor financial controls as directed by District Manager in order to meet club specific targets
  • Manage club revenue, including cash handling, deposit reconciliation, and delivery of deposits to bank.

Washington Sports Clubs is part of Town Sports International, the largest health and fitness chain in the Northeast.  We have over 160 locations, 19 of which are in the Washington, DC area.   

 

 


Job Requirements 

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years in a managerial capacity
  • Prior fitness experience, education in exercise science or related field preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Certification in fitness instruction or personal training preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proven track record of success in fitness/retail/customer service management
  • Leadership, customer service, staff development, problem solving, communication, and organization skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in recruiting, training, sales generation, and operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
