Job Title:                     Area Lead Manager

Office Location:        Boxborough, MA or other Intertek office

 

The opportunity has arisen for Area Lead Manager to join this global organization which respects diverse perspectives, experiences and traditions as essential and values each employee’s contribution toward achieving our business objectives. In this position, you will mentor, manage and continually develop the competencies of all auditors within the assigned region of System Certification. In this position, you will have the authority and responsibility to:

  • Manage and perform management system audits

  • Provide on-the-job training for auditors and provisional personnel

  • Recruit resources as needed, conduct witnessed audits and make recommendations

  • Regular reporting to senior management on issues and updates

  • Assign and approve sector codes as needed

 

In this position, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for making sure that each employee has a clear understanding of his/her responsibilities, including: auditing execution, report submission, expense management, and code of conduct

  • Responsible for hiring, training, performance reviews, and holding regular team meetings with all auditors within their area of supervision

  • Provides meeting minutes to management, as required or requested

  • Responsible for identifying, recommending, training, and effectively managing audit team members and work assignments; works with management and Human Resources, as appropriate

  • Monitors and provides feedback on the performance of staff members

  • Responsible for employee career development and retention

  • Manage all phases of assessments/audits and recommendation for registration

  • Perform audits in addition to managing

  • Identify and work with operations/registration, company management systems, and sales personnel to implement overall improvements to ISC audit program in the areas including: scheduling, training, audit processes, and automated reporting

  • Identify sector specific resources and measure/evaluate current effectiveness and client satisfaction through onsite auditing with team auditors; recommend and make improvements where appropriate

  • In conjunction with operations, provide ongoing forecasts of resource requirements relative to member, geographic location and area of expertise

  • Assist sales team on client visits and new business development

  • Assist senior management with his/her duties as needed

  • Perform other work or projects as required or assigned

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of auditing, demonstrated through a combination of academic and experience

    • BA/BS degree

    • 5+ years of related auditing experience within the industry

    • 2+ years of supervisor or management experience 

    • ISO19011 auditor and auditor team leader requirements, including auditor cards/certificates

    • Qualified in multiple sectors (ISO9001, EMS, AS, etc)

  • Other Requirements

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

      • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written

    • Sound judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, organization and analytical skills

      • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

      • Ability to understand complex operations in broad perspective

      • Ability to obtain and assess factual information fairly

      • Ability to exercise effective time management skills for self and staff in completion of assignments and all required reports

      • Ability to work well in an environment and react effectively in stressful situations

    • Strong leadership skills

      • Ability to inspire and motivate others

    • Strong computer skills, including MS Office

    • Ability to work varied and extended hours/days, as business dictates

      • Must be willing and able to travel extensively throughout the region:

        • Primarily domestic travel

        • International travel may be needed (requires a passport)
