Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a Principle Consulting Engineer to work in our Professional Services Organization.  The Principle Consulting Engineer position is an accomplished technical job function within GTSI Professional Services.  The general job function is to provide technical services to our Federal Customers on complex enterprise computing and data center projects, support proposal development, provide technical training to junior engineers and lead internal initiatives when required.  This position is viewed primarily as a highly skilled position for professionals who have at least 10 years of practical industry experience as an individual contributor.

Key Responsibilities:

- Leads complex research, development and proof of concept for customer solutions

- Works with ESC Team to develop innovative and advanced information technology solutions for customers

- Participates when required in the design, assessment, analysis, and troubleshooting of IP-driven networks, systems and applications for customers

- Serves as the Technical Point of Contact for issue resolution of customer problems

- Perform as Technical Lead on project delivery when required and support field teams providing services

- Provide pre-sales technical support to GTSI Professional Services management and sales in the form of creating Level of Efforts, preparing presentations, developing white papers, and attending client meetings

- Develop additional technical and professional skills through career-track curriculum and self-learning experiences

- Mentor junior engineers through collaboration and in-house training efforts that you will be required to develop and facilitate

- Provide support and leadership on internal GTSI Professional Services initiatives such as process improvement, best practices, and research

- Contribution to GTSI Professional Services objectives for revenue attainment

- Help identify and gain client commitment for billed work opportunities throughout the year.  Seek at least 40% billable time per month

- Support Professional Services Management in a pre-sales capacity to help sell GTSI Professional Services through new sales, add-on sales and lead generation.

Job Requirements

Key Requirements:

- A Bachelor Degree and 10+ years of equivalent industry experience in one of the following technical fields:  Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related technical discipline.  If candidate does not hold a Bachelor Degree, a minimum of 12 years of relevant industry experience may be considered equivalent.

- Must have demonstrated outstanding and consistent technical skills in the following areas of GTSI Professional Services core competency:  Enterprise level Storage and Server architecture and integration, Storage data migration, Virtualization and consolidation of data centers, TCP/IP internetworking.

- Must possess an in-depth knowledge of the following:
            Storage protocols including ISCSI, Fiber Channel, CIFS, NFS, NDMP protocols in the design of storage solutions
            Physical design for improving backup environment, tape libraries, clustering, replication, disaster recovery and NAS snapshots
            All storage systems (HDS, EMC, IBM, NetAPP), SAN (Brocade and Cisco) and backup environments
            Capability of Storage Area Network design, standard development, installation, and configuration set up of backup environment.
            VERITAS HA configurations.
            Ability to administer best-in-class configurations including RAID group configuration, multi-path and storage replication.
            Storage routing principles, ability to design consistent network-wide file systems and strong Scripting skills.
            Distributed/networking computing environmental concepts and midrange systems - AIX, Solaris, Linux and Windows and ESX environments.
            Storage management and distribution in a distributed data center environment.

- In addition to educational degrees, this position requires active Enterprise level Storage/Server certifications (Hitachi HDSCP, NetApp NCIE, Sun Storage, Solaris 10, VCP or equivalent). Costs associated with prep-courses for any lab preparation will be the responsibility of the employee.

- This position demonstrates strong demonstrated written and oral communications skills.  The candidate in this position must have demonstrated successes in a collaborative and partnering with clients.  Candidate must demonstrate ability to listen critically, think quantitatively, and develop solutions to client business issues.  Candidate must have a strong understanding of business fundamentals in accounting and finance, project management, and management.

- Requires business expertise and must be specialized in the server/storage technology sector

-Must have high-energy work ethic and be available to work non-standard hours during peak season times.
