Autism Speaks is becoming one of the fastest growing non-profits in the country, dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure for autism. We currently have a career opportunity available for an experienced Event/Walk Manager to complement our dynamic Walk team. The Event/Walk Manager will work from a home-based office in Rhode Island, New Hampshire or Southern Massachusetts.

Event/Walk Manager - Rhode Island/New Hampshire (Southern & Northern New England)
The selected individual will raise money for Autism Speaks by organizing volunteers, creating awareness and implementing Walk fundraising events in Southern and Northern New England.

Event/Walk Manager responsibilities include:

  • Achieving revenue goals for scheduled Walk fundraising events in Rhode Island and New Hampshire by securing corporate sponsors and recruiting teams of volunteers
  • Working with supervisor to establish and implement planning timelines, income goals, expense budgets and participant recruitment strategies
  • Executing in partnership with volunteer leadership the Walk for Autism Speaks, specifically managing Walk committee recruitment and retention
  • Working to achieve the Walk goals identified in the business plan for the annual Walk, including strategies regarding sponsorship, team recruitment and retention, media outreach, kickoff and a year-long communications plan
  • Locally implementing global campaigns of Autism Speaks, such as advocacy, national walk extensions, community outreach and other fundraising wrap-around events during the year
  • Managing event logistics and Walk administration: data entry, acknowledgments, administrative support to volunteer committees
  • Making presentations to businesses, organizations and community groups

•Flexibility to work nights and weekends pre-and-post Walk season

 

Requirements

The qualified candidate will possess a bachelor's degree, as well as a minimum of two to four years' experience in fundraising, development and special events. Experience conducting fundraising events and a background in recruiting and working with volunteers is required. The Event/Walk Manager will possess excellent communication, presentation and administrative skills, and proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint. Kintera or Raiser's Edge database skills are preferred.
