Senior Manager of Retail Store Design-South Plainfield, NJ



Tumi, the leader in luxury travel, business and lifestyle accessories, has an outstanding career opportunity for a Senior Manager, Retail Store Design at our corporate headquarters in South Plainfield, NJ.  This individual will be responsible for the design of new and remodeled stores in domestic and international markets as well as the creation, development and implementation of conceptual architectural and merchandising schemes for retail stores, shop-in-shops, fixtures and POS programs.

This position is solely responsible for the design coordination with internal and external project teams and all related design scheduling.  

Quality control, site inspections, consultant budgeting and performance monitoring are also critical activities.  In addition, this position provides on-going outreach to field organizations for related design activities.

  



Job Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task. 

  • Orientation to detail is essential. 

  • 7 years experience in retail design experience with better to luxury brands and a bachelor’s degree in a related design field required.

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD 14 and 3-D modeling, as well as MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint and Adobe Illustrator. 

  • Must have an extensive portfolio of personally prepared work, including presentations for senior management and business partners, possess budgeting and financial management skills for the management of design consultants, and be knowledgeable and adept with fabrication detailing, materials and methods. 

  • Understanding of retail merchandising and display techniques a must. Travel required both domestic and occasional international, approximately 15 – 20 %.
